Pelee Island Winery Riesling and Gamay

Two eats, one winery!

Whatever the occasion, from appetizers to mains,  Pelee Island’s Fox Trot Gamay Noir Zweigelt & Lighthouse Riesling are brimming with possibilities for fall fare!

The Figs are fresh from our backyard and Vegetables from Lee and Marias Market.

 

Baked Figs with Goat Cheese

Ingredients
6 medium-sized figs
80  grams  or 2.8 oz soft goat cheese
2 tablespoons  chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon chopped sage
2 tablespoons  honey
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

 

Lighthouse Riesling VQA 2015

Description: Dry

Grape(s): 100% Riesling
Riesling is one of the noble grape varieties and is capable of producing a variety of extraordinary white wine styles. It may be most known for the sweeterstyle German Wine it produces, however Ontario produces a vivid array of dry to off dry style Rieslings that are world class.

Pale straw in color. With a fragrant orchard fresh aroma and a delicate
peach bouquet this is a refreshing white wine. The balance of acidity and residual sugar give the Riesling a good balance with a long aging potential.
Pair with:
– Appetizers – Seafood
– Cheese – White meats
– On its own.

2015 Fox Trot Gamay Noir Zweigelt

TASTING NOTES:
Deep red in colour. The appealing fruitiness of Gamay Noir and distinct spiciness of Zweigelt grapes is blended to yield this medium bodied red. It’s boysenberry and black currant flavors combine with a fine tannic finish and crisp acidity
Pair with: Swordfish Kabobs with Balsamic Glaze, seared peppercorn steak or Camembert cheese.
